As the core center of the transmission system, the modern rail car gearbox has broken through the limitations of traditional mechanical devices through the deep integration of material science, fluid mechanics and intelligent monitoring technology to build a new generation of transmission solutions with precision transmission and intelligent operation and maintenance characteristics.

The Function of Rail Transit Gearbox

The accurate transmission efficiency of modern gearbox adopts multilevel planetary gear structure design, through dynamic mesh optimization technique, the transmission efficiency up to 98.2%. Taking the CR400AF EMU as an example, the gearbox can still maintain the torque fluctuation control accuracy of
±0.15% under the continuous operation condition of 250km/h. This precision transmission characteristic benefits from three technical innovations: First, the surface hardness of the gear pair created by carburizing, quenching and grinding process can reach HRC60-62, and the tooth surface roughness is controlled within Ra0.4
μm; Secondly, the shock-absorbing bearing seat made of polymer composite material can effectively absorb high-frequency vibration; Finally, the oil film thickness of the key friction pair is stabilized in the range of 5-8μm by means of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) optimization of the oil passage design.

The Feature of Rail Transit Gearbox

The nanocrystalline strengthening technology endows the gears in the gearbox with a microstructure featuring directional alignment, increasing their contact fatigue life by three times. The bearing housing of the axle-hugging box adopts metal matrix ceramic composite material (MMC), reducing the friction coefficient to the 0.002 level. The graphene-reinforced aluminum alloy box body enhances the overall thermal conductivity by 50%, achieving a qualitative leap in heat dissipation efficiency.
