In the modern high-speed railway system, the EMU motor is the core power source of the train, and the motor pressure ring, as a key part of the motor, is not well known but plays an indispensable role in the stable operation of the motor. It is the “guardian” of the motor rotor, which ensures the safety and reliability of the motor at high speed.

Function and importance of motor pressure ring

The primary function of the motor pressure ring is to fix and support the motor rotor. During the operation of the EMU, the rotor of the motor rotates at a very high speed, which generates substantial centrifugal force and thermal stress. If there is no fixed pressure ring, the rotor core may be displaced or deformed, which will affect the regular operation of the motor and even cause serious safety accidents. The pressure ring firmly fixes the rotor core to the rotating shaft by applying pressure to ensure its stability during high-speed operation.

In addition, the motor pressure ring also withstands the mechanical and thermal stress generated by the rotor during operation. The motor speed of high-speed EMUs is usually up to thousands of revolutions per minute, which puts a high demand on the strength and durability of the compression ring. Therefore, the pressure ring is not only a fixed part of the motor but also a “fuse” for the safe operation of the motor.

Materials and Manufacturing Processes

In order to meet the demanding requirements of high-speed EMU motors, motor press rings are usually made of high-strength alloy steel. This material has excellent mechanical properties and heat resistance and can remain stable in high-speed, high-temperature environments. Some of the rings are also coated to enhance their wear resistance and corrosion resistance. So that their service life will be extended.

In terms of the manufacturing process, the motor pressure ring needs to undergo precision machining and heat treatment. Precision machining ensures that the size and shape of the ring are highly accurate to meet the strict requirements of motor assembly. Heat treatment increases the hardness and strength of the ring so that it can withstand massive stress in high-speed operation.
