In the complex and precise electro-mechanical system of wind turbines, the stator tooth retaining plates, as the key load-bearing components of the stator core, are like the human skeleton that supports the stable operation of the entire power generation system. This seemingly ordinary metal component is actually the core medium connecting electromagnetic performance and mechanical strength. The design and manufacturing level of these components directly determines the power generation efficiency and service life of wind turbine units.

The core mission of the stator tooth retaining plates is reflected in two aspects: Firstly, as the rigid constraint structure for the stator teeth, it needs to withstand the high-frequency vibrations caused by alternating electromagnetic forces, ensuring that the laminated silicon steel sheets remain tightly overlapped under the magnetic field effect; Secondly, as the axial pressing device for the stator core, it must provide a constant preload to counteract the material deformation caused by temperature changes. This dual-function requirement makes it a key hub for the perfect synergy between the electromagnetic system and the mechanical system.

In megawatt-level direct-drive permanent magnet generators, the stator teeth need to withstand electromagnetic excitation forces of up to 200 kN/m². Through finite element simulation analysis, it was found that a reasonable design of the pressure plate curvature can improve the uniformity of stress distribution by 35%, effectively avoiding fatigue fracture caused by local stress concentration. Modern designs generally adopt variable cross-section structures, thickening and strengthening at the tooth top, and optimizing the reduction of the slot area to achieve the dual goals of weight reduction and strength enhancement.

Traditional toothed pressure plates are mostly made of Q345 low-alloy structural steel. They are formed by laser cutting, and then surface galvanized. With the trend of large-scale wind turbine units, new material systems are accelerating their iterations:

High-strength duplex stainless steel (such as S32205): With a yield strength of up to 450 MPa, its corrosion resistance is enhanced by 8 times compared to ordinary carbon steel, making it particularly suitable for high-salt spray environments at sea.

Carbon fiber reinforced composite materials: CFRP tooth pressing plates formed by a molding process, with 60% weight reduction under the same stiffness, effectively reducing the rotational inertia of the rotor.

Gradient functional materials: By using laser cladding technology, a nickel-based alloy coating is fabricated on the substrate surface. The surface hardness can reach HRC55, and three orders of magnitude enhance the wear resistance.

The actual measurement data from a specific European complete machine factory show that after adopting the new titanium alloy tooth pressure plates, the electromagnetic noise of the generator has been reduced by 7 dB(A), and the temperature rise rate has decreased by 12%. This verifies the significant improvement in system performance brought about by the material upgrade.
